January 2018. The turn of the new year. New year. New you. It was in this month that Adrienne Mishler of Yoga With Adrienne did a 30 day yoga journey to rediscover our own truths.
I had been meaning to get back into doing an at home yoga practice, since I went on a surf and yoga retreat, in Mexico in March 2017, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to jump right back in.
Yoga is great for helping you to manage anxiety and stress, and generally boosting your mood, as well as stretching and strengthening the body. It helps you find balance, both on the mat as well as in day to day life, and helps you to slow down and get to know yourself better.
For each day’s yoga practice, Adrienne had a theme and sent out an email to go with that day’s theme. During the journey, each day on Instagram, I posted the thoughts and feelings I had written based on those themes and using the emails as a writing prompt.
It was through doing this yoga journey that I realised that I can help make a difference in people’s lives through my writing. By sharing my thoughts, based on each day’s theme, on Instagram, and having a positive image to go with it, I was slowly increasing in the number of likes and follows. On occasion, I got positive comments and this only added to my realisation that despite my social anxiety and my difficulty in interacting with people in the offline world, I can make a positive difference in people’s lives in the online world.
It was through this yoga journey that I realised that I need to turn these ideas into a blog, dedicated to healing the mind, body and spirit, and though I am not a professional or expert in anything, I myself have lived through not so great experiences, I struggle with mental health issues and am slowly learning to heal myself.
I believe you don’t have to be an expert at something to share your experiences to help others. You don’t have to be a fully qualified anything to shine your light out into the world. You just need experience and a genuine desire to do good in this world and to make it a better and happier place to live for others.
It was because of YWATRUE that Beach Babe and Vacay was born.
… … …
How can you let your light shine out into the world even without what others may have?
Whatever happens, don’t forget to smile!
